A Successful Home Business ? The Reality ... - Internet Mac Marketing

Home Business failureWe?ve all seen the sales letters. They promise thousands of dollars pouring into your bank account. They imply, if not actually state, that you will receive quick or even overnight success. They even show screenshots of their own bank accounts to prove it!

If you read the fine print, however, you may find that such programs do not guarantee overnight success. They may show you what they accomplished with their program, but that does not mean that you will achieve the same results. Despite what they may claim (or imply), they did not make thousands of dollars in the first month or even year.

I once bought a course that promised to reveal all of the inner secrets of online marketing. However, many of the ?secrets? involved sending out spam. What?s worse, the author was heavy-handed in pushing a backend product, a piece of software that wouldn?t even run on my preferred Mac operating system, and he had the nerve to imply that his system would be all but worthless without this software. This made me wonder why he didn?t just sell the software and forget about pushing it as a backend.

Because there are some sales pages and products that overpromise and underdeliver, we may come to think that they all must be scams. If people buy into the hype, they will likely become disillusioned when they don?t make quick money and conclude that they?ve been scammed. It happened to me.

However, there are programs out there that are solid. while no program should rely on hype to be sold, there are people making real money with the systems promoted by some of the top marketers.

MacMall - Your #1 Apple Superstore! It?s necessary to follow a program that is right for you. But even assuming you?ve chosen such a system, success will not come overnight. After all, you wouldn?t buy a business franchise and expect to become profitable in the first year. It is equally unreasonable to buy a marketing system and expect it to work for you within the first month or two. A home or online business must be built up like a brick or mortar business.

The advantage of a home business is that you don?t need a huge investment to start it. You can build your own blog or website for less than $100. However, the same ease of entry also means competition, so anybody wishing to succeed must have the patience and the drive to stay in it for the long haul.

Payment processors like ClickBank have recently revised their terms of service to crack down on those who make overly hyped and unsubstantiated claims for their products.

So how do you know who to trust? The first step is to do some research. Enter the name of the product into your favorite search engine and see what comes up. You should take many of the reviews you come across with a grain of salt, especially if the product in question has an affiliate program. This can bias those giving recommendations. The course I mentioned above was one that had excellent reviews.

Another way to find good solid information about a product is to find a well-established forum that is frequented by those who have been in the home business arena for many years.

First, the most respected forums have rules about what can be posted on their forums, such as overly-hyped claims or bald advertisements, and the participants can be kicked out if they violate these rules.

Secondly, the other participants in the forum will come down like a ton of bricks on anyone who offers bad advice. There is a sort of self regulating mechanism in place.

Thirdly, the top forums are free. They don?t required payment to join so they don?t have an agenda to push.

If you want to learn about all aspects of Internet marketing, a good forum to get involved in is the Warrior Forum. It?s been online since 1997.

The most important thing is to have realistic expectations, but also to have drive and persistence. Don?t allow doubt to creep in, because that can allow the whole success building mechanism to grind to a halt. Keep positive and keep promoting!
